The Swedish skier who will make her debut in Visma Ski Classics with Team Robinson Trentino won the famous Italian race La Sgambeda, in a competition packed with long-distance skiers.
This Saturday, the popular La Sgambeda was held in Livigno, Italy. A total of 500 athletes competed in skating technique with the distance of 35 kilometers, in a competition that had almost all its entries sold out. For many long-distance skiers participating in the Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour, this was the first opportunity of the season to race on snow.
Frida Erkers, the new Swedish athlete of Team Robinson Trentino, was the first female athlete to cross the finish line, winning her second race this season. After a week of training in Livigno with her team, Frida was able to finish the 35 km circuit with a 8-minute gap from the second and third positions that were conquered by Nicole Donzallazz and Chiara Caminada, respectively, both also from Team Robinson Trentino. Thea Schwingshackl, representing Team Futura Trentino Alta Quota, finished the race in the 7th position.
On the men’s side, the top 10 was packed with Visma Ski Classics Pro Team’s athletes. Mauro Brigadoi from Team Internorm Trentino Zorzi-Max conquered the 2nd position, while the Czech Vltava Fund Ski Team’s Jan Srail finished 3rd at La Sgambeda.
In the top 10, there were also familiar names to the Visma Ski Classics. Internorm Trentino Zorzi-Max’s athletes Francesco Ferrari and Lorenzo Busin finished the race in the 6th and 10th places, respectively. Patrick Fossum Kristoffersen from Team Robinson Trentino was the 7th fastest skier ahead of Fábian Stocek who finished 8th.
La Sgambeda was the first test of the season for many of these skiers who are about to start the Visma Ski Classics circuit on December 18 at Orsa Grönklitt Pro Team Tempo.
