Fossavatnsgangan, a 50km long-distance ski event on April 18th 2020, becomes the first Visma Ski Classics Challengers event in Iceland.
The event takes place in Isafjordur and was established in 1935, being the oldest long-distance race in Iceland, with the 50km being on the program since 2004. The race has its start and finish at Seljalandsdalur-Isafjordur´s main cross-country ski area with the trails going along the mountains surrounding Isafjordur with a breathtaking view and under the pleasant spring weather.
"Fossavatnsgangan, the oldest cross-country ski competition in Iceland has decided to join up with Visma Ski Classics Challengers calendar and we expect that all long-distance skiers around the world will be delighted to experience new and exciting events all over the world, including Fossavatnsgangan", says Fossavatnsgangan CEO Kristbjörn R. Sigurjónsson.
In addition to the 50km main race, Fossavatnsgangan also offer races of 12km and 25km in classic technique, 25km free technique and kids race of 1km and 5km.
