Blåvegenløpet's history goes back to 1979 and will celebrate its 48th edition in 2026. The course stretches from Umbukta to Klokkerhagen outside Mo I Rana City. Every year since 1979, approximately 1000-1500 skiers have participated in the event.
Blåvegenløpet has four distances for 2026: 7.5km, 15km, 28km, and 34km (27km for 2026 due to snow conditions), and gathers all from families to professional skiers to one big ski event.
The course follows the Blue road (E12), which connects Norway to Sweden. The start in Umbukta is only 3km from the Swedish border, and the finish line is just outside the city of Mo I Rana.
