The Ski Classics Challengers event, Arctic Alta Skimaraton, is a beautiful 46km long-distance skiing race, now in classic technique, with start and finish close to the city center of Alta, Norway, and runs through a long loop around Alta. Shorter events of 12 and 19km are also available.
The race crosses the beautiful Alta river and other scenic places, with mostly light terrain but one large climb up the Detsika-hill and through a cabin village at the top.
There are 4 checkpoints with nutrition. Participants can also enjoy a café in the city center of Alta the evening before the event and a prize-giving ceremony after the race.
