CHALLENGERS SERIES
Ski Classics is the leading event brand within long distance skiing. The Ski Classics Pro Tour is the international long distance ski championship for Pro Teams. It is limited to 13 events per season and has high demand on the TV production of each event. The Ski Classics Challengers series will give the opportunity to an unlimited number of events to be part of the Ski Classics family. Incentives are set in order to make Pro Team skiers also compete in the Challengers events to collect important points and increase their SC ranking. Events may move between the Pro Tour and the Challengers series creating a dynamic calendar. Being a part of the Challengers series give the events access to the Ski Classics marketing channels and increasing the international awareness.
EVENT PROMOTION
All the Challengers events are presented on www.skiclassics.com to promote the events. Live streams and highlights will be published in Ski Classics channels. Ski Classics content managers will post news and information from the Challengers events.
RESULTS
Challengers events send live results to Ski Classics database by API which are then visible in the Live Centre and in Results on skiclassics.com.
SKI CLASSICS RANKING
Challengers results will be calculated in the Ski Classics Ranking. The ranking is deciding the start positions at Pro Tour events and also shows the athletes comparable level. The ranking is open to all athletes of all levels including recreational skiers. Each athlete can create an account and login to MyPages to view their SC ranking, event results, collect digital event pins, diplomas and compare their ranking with friends etc.
COMPETITIONS
Pro Team athletes may calculate the best result from a Challengers event in each season. Challengers will in the future have a regional bib competition.
DISTANCE AND TECHNIQUE
The minimum distance for a Challengers event is 30km and can be done in loops or from one point to the other. The race can be hosted in classic or free technique, in cross country skiing or roller skiing.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
A separate document called “Ski Classics Challengers Rules and Regulations” explains the details of the concepts and is updated before each season. The Challengers season starts 1st of May and ends 2 weeks prior to the Ski Classics Pro Tour Final.
LICENSE FEE
To be a Challengers event is free of charge. Production costs for branding material may apply. All events part of the Challengers series signs a license agreement.
