The Ski Classics Challengers event Janteloppet is a 20km long-distance race in freestyle technique this Saturday, April 8, in Hafjell, Norway.
Janteloppet is a unique 20km skiing race created by the legendary traditional cross-country skier and Pro Tour athlete Petter Northug Jr, Team Northug Crucible. The event joins the Ski Classics Challengers calendar to celebrate its 6th edition on April 8, 2023.
The mass start race brings together the World’s top skiers, young talents, enthusiasts, recreational skiers, and Easter tourists. Janteloppet delivers fun, memorable moments and competitive spirit in equal proportions.
The Local Organizing Committee is pleased to be joining the Ski Classics Challengers circuit:
“Being part of the Ski Classics Challengers is a unique opportunity for Janteloppet to become the largest cross-country ski race held on Easter,” and continues:
“Scheduled at the end of the season, Janteloppet provides an exciting opportunity for both elite and recreational athletes to challenge themselves and joy with its unique track features while enjoying the Easter sunshine in Hafjell, Norway.”
Besides Petter Northug himself, several stars from Ski Classics Pro Tour, traditional cross-country skiing, and biathlon will be on the starting line.
“I have long thought about how a ski race can be made even more exciting and engaging for athletes and the public. Janteloppet is a unique opportunity for me to realize this vision, to create a ski race that appeals to both top athletes and the public, and that engages and inspires new generations to invest in cross-country skiing,” says Northug.
