The Ski Classics Challengers event Botniavasan, planned for March 15 in Finland, has been canceled due to adverse snow conditions.
Botniavasan is a cross-country, long-distance skiing event held around Vörå in Finland. The event was first held in 2006 and is held in February each year. Due to the lack of snow this winter, the event was postponed to March 15, 2025, but now, with no better snow conditions, it had to be canceled for 2025.
According to a press release from the Local Organizing Committee, the 2025 edition of Botniavasa is now canceled:
“Due to poor and uncertain snow conditions, Botnivasan 2025 is canceled.
Applicants may move their registration to 2026, or the organizer will refund 50% of the registration fee.
Those who signed up will be moved to 2026 or, if they want, the organizers will refund 50% of the registration fee.”

The main race, part of the Ski Classics Challengers series, is 52 km long, and the event has been named after Vasaloppet in Sweden. Botniavasan is also a seeding race for Vasaloppet. The classic style route is suitable for recreational as well as competitive skiers.
