One of the best skiers in all time, Marit Bjørgen, makes a comeback this winter. She joins Team Ragde Eiendom and aims to race at Vasaloppet.
Therese Johaug also becomes part of Aukland's team.
“I have been out of the game for two years and have not had a concrete goal to work towards,” says Bjørgen to Norwegian television company, NRK.
On Tuesday, Marit made her first training session with the team on roller skis.
“I managed to keep up for 30 kilometers,” the 40-year-old tells NRK.
The big goal this winter will be the Vasaloppet but it can also be a start in Marcialonga for Bjørgen.
“Getting the opportunity to be in the world's best long-distance skiing team triggers me. I am curious to learn something new and have something concrete to work towards,” says Bjørgen and continues:
“I have ambitions when I get a bib on me. We'll see what I get done in training until Vasaloppet.”
“Marit will train well. It will be less quantity than before but targeted specifically for Vasaloppet. We know what it takes to win that race,” says Pro Team manager Jörgen Aukland.
It is also clear that Therese Johaug will be part of Team Ragde Eiendom this winter.
“I have 100 percent focus on the World Cup and the Olympics and it is not certain that I will go any long distance races this winter, but it will be exciting to get inspiration from other environments,” says Johaug according to NRK, who in the future may also consider racing Marcialonga and Vasaloppet.
