Recently, the news came that Anton Karlsson, Lager 157 Ski Team, is ending his career. However, the Vasaloppet runner-up season XI will not disappear from Visma Ski Classics.
Karlsson will be employed as Sports Manager by Wsportsmedia, the company that runs Visma Ski Classics.
"I have finished my elite sports career, but I feel great passion and enthusiasm for skiing. It feels great to be able to be a part of the continued development of long distance skiing and the Pro Tour," says Anton Karlsson.
"I can be involved and contribute with the athletes perspective, and my job will be, among other things, to collaborate with the Pro Teams. It will be important to zoom out and see the whole picture of the Pro Tour from the big strong teams to the smaller ones and all the different events," Karlsson continues.
Do you already have any thoughts about developing the Pro Tour?
"I have some ideas on how to make the events even more exciting around, among other things, scoring points, says Karlsson.
"To get a person into the organization who has the athlete's experience is important. Anton is a very well-respected person among both athletes and Pro Teams," says Visma Ski Classics CEO David Nilsson.
