Lager 157 Ski Team Pro Team athletes took a double at the Swedish long distance skiing premiere in Orsa Grönklitt, a ski destination 30 km north of Mora in Sweden, on Sunday morning.
Anton Karlsson outsprinted Oskar Kardin, Team Ragde Eiendom and Britta Johansson Norgren raced to victory about a minute ahead of Lina Korsgren, Team Ramudden.
The set-up was 75 minutes plus three laps on the about one km long track with saved snow in Orsa Grönklitt. Both the men’s and women’s class had gathered a strong group of athletes. The weather conditions were + 6 degrees celsius and foggy.
An hour into the race, the men’s class was about four athletes. Kardin and Karlsson, together with Max Novak and Johannes Eklöf, Team Ramudden.
Out on the last lap, Kardin did a surge and only Karlsson could follow. In the final stretch, Karlsson had the sharpest sprint and took the victory. Novak took third place just ahead of Eklöf.
“It felt like mashed potatoes. Oskar was strong and played his cards. I got to play mine, Anton said after sprinting home the victory.
“Anton was strong; he was in control. In the end, I really tried, but Anton could follow me, Kardin commented.
On the women’s side, Britta Johansson Norgren immediately showed great shape when she got to step on snow.
“I was sure that one of the girls from Ramudden was ahead of me. I just pushed to catch up. I did not understand I was first until I lapped Ida (Dahl) and Elin (Mohlin),” said Britta.
In the end, Britta was about a minute ahead of Lina.
