The World Cup skier Aleksey Poltoranin, 31, from Kazakhstan is going to race in Toblach-Cortina this Saturday. This two-time bronze medalist in the World Championships (2013) will join the ranks of Russian Marathon Team.
During his professional skiing career that started in 2004 (the international senior level), the Kazakh pro skier has won the FIS World Cup races 12 times including various tour stages, and one of them he managed to do by double-poling, and he has been on the podium 15 times. He has also participated in the Olympic Games twice. Many remember his third place in the men's 50 km classic in the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy, where Johan Olson, Sweden, and Dario Cologna, Switzerland, took the other podium places, respectively.
