The Ski Classics Challengers event Vaajmarathon is a 44-kilometer long-distance roller ski race in classic technique this Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Vaajmarathon is a unique roller ski race that crosses the Norwegian-Swedish border. The 44km event is part of the Ski Classics Challengers circuit and a seeding race for Vasaloppet.
Celebrating the eighth edition in 2026, Vaajmarathon takes place in the beautiful area of Hotagen, only 100km from Östersund. The 44km race starts in Mebygda, Norway, and the organizers invite both professional and recreational skiers to a roller ski event crossing the Norwegian-Swedish border to finish in Rötviken, Sweden. Shorter races of 15 and 25km are also available.
According to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Vaajmarathon is one of Sweden’s most beautiful roller ski races. It inspires an active lifestyle and shows the possibility of roller skiing in a unique environment, featuring a course close to the mountains and stunning scenery.

As the Vaajmarathon is a Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team registered athletes can collect points for the Ski Classics World Champion and Youth competitions in their respective genders.
