The Ski Classics Challengers event, Flyktningerennet, is a 44km long-distance race in classic technique, taking place this Saturday, March 21, 2026, starting in Norway and finishing in Sweden.
Flyktningerennet is a long-distance skiing race in classic technique held annually, with a history going back to 1950 when the first race, also called Flyktningloppet in Sweden, was organized to honor and remember the refugees who fled across the border from Norway to Sweden during World War II.
The 44km race in classic technique stretches from Sandvika, Norway, to Gäddede, Sweden, and is part of the Ski Classics Challengers series. It is also a seeding race for Birkebeinerrennet and Vasaloppet. Shorter events of 17km and 12km are also available on Saturday, while the Lilla Flyktingloppet takes place on Sunday for kids and young skiers.
