The Ski Classics Challengers event, Zelta Klasika 50, took place this Sunday with a 50km long-distance skiing race in classic technique at Piebalga, Latvia. Check out the results.
After a day full of action, one of the Ski Classics Challengers events in Latvia, Zelta Klasika 50, saw a fierce battle for all the podium places. Ultimately, Viesturs Eglītis, Jaunpiebalga, and Elita Zālīte, Smiltene, won their respective races with solid performances.
Zelta Klasika 50 – Men’s Race
In the men’s event, the winner, Viesturs Eglītis, Jaunpiebalga, completed the race at a time of 3:43:12.57.
Ingus Ozolinš finished in second place, 4:42.4 behind, followed by Artis Ločmelis, VSK Burkānciems & Co, completing the podium in third position and 6:46.41 back.

Zelta Klasika 50 – Women’s Race
In the women’s competition, the winner, Elita Zālīte, Smiltene, completed the event in a total time of 4:11:20.9.
Merle Lilleoru, Sääsehirm, finished in second place, 8:54.0 back, followed by Ieva Maulina, Briksnis, 32:25.0 behind the winner, and completed the podium in third place.

As the Zelta Klasika 50 is a Ski Classics Challengers event, Pro Team-registered athletes can earn points toward the Ski Classics Champion and Youth competitions in their respective genders.
