The 10th anniversary of the Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour, Season X, has 12 events in total, and starts with the Prologue weekend in Livingo, Italy, with the Pro Team Tempo of 15 km on Friday, November 29, followed by a mass start Individual Prologue of 35 km on Sunday, December 1, 2019. The Pro Tour X ends once again in Northern Finland when the 70 km finale Ylläs-Levi takes place on April 4, 2020.
Season X has five stages in Italy, two in Norway and one stage in Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland. There is a brand new 40 km race La Venosta in Italy on December 14, 2019 which has the shortest distance, excluding the prologue weekend events, while Vasaloppet in Sweden on March 1 has the longest course of 90 km. The Pro Team athletes need to battle through a total of 604 kilometers in the 12 stages during the Season X.
Besides a new event in the calendar, Season X presents some fresh features in the Pro Tour to add more thrills and drama in the field. La Diagonela has now two sprint competition checkpoints while the climb one has been removed. The first hill at Vasaloppet has now a climb competition point at 3 km and Ylläs-Levi has added another climb point at Keskinenlaki ensuring that the excitement remains all the way to the end of the season. In total there are 12 sprint and 15 climb competition checkpoints during the upcoming Season X.
Additionally, Pro Team athletes may now count the best Visma Ski Classics Challengers result in the Hertz Champion competition. The winner of a Pro Tour event get 200 points and the winner of a Challenger event get 50 points. There are 27 Challengers events in 13 countries, and four of them have already been arranged this fall, three as roller-ski events and one on snow in Argentina.
