The always happy bunch of green soldiers in the Visma Ski Classics arena, Team NTNUI Sweco, is once again gearing up for the new season. This university-based gang has been training well in Trondheim, and the seven members of the team think that the upcoming winter will be the most exciting so far.
“We have brought in two new girls. Hanne Skulbru comes from traditional cross-country skiing with strong results nationally and is really looking forward to racing long-distance in Visma Ski Classics for us this winter,” Matias Noren, the team manager, says eagerly.
Matias also points out that their team consists of young and talented athletes who have potential for years to come. He really has high hopes for Olaf Talmo, born in 2001, and he thinks that this young skier will be a rising star in the future.
“Olaf competed at Vaajmarathon where he finished 6th, in Lysebotn Opp he was 9th while during Toppidrettsveka he also managed to be 9th in the uphill race, Brekka Opp. We also had some athletes racing at Klaralvsloppet this past Sunday where we were high up in some of the sprints during the race, and we had two athletes in 17th and 22ndplaces at the finish.”
In addition to training intensively and getting ready for the new season, the team members are busy with their education.
”We will not only study this fall as we will also train hard so that we are well prepared in Orsa in December,” Matias concludes.
