Team Ragde Eiendom is in search of new strong women athletes and now they have signed Anikken Gjerde Alnæs.
The 26-year-old Gjerde Alnæs, with the greatest success in sprint competitions, now chooses to focus on long-distance skiing in the Aukland team.
Anikken won the sprint at the Scandinavian Cup in Nes, Norway last winter and then went on to world cup sprint in both Dresden, where she finished 8th, and Drammen but now long-distance skiing and Visma Ski Classics is the new goal for the fast Norwegian.
“We are very happy to have Anikken in the team and think that it is extremely cool that she chooses to go all-in for long-distance skiing. If she takes as big steps as she did last season, we believe she can fight with the very best,” says team manager Jørgen Aukland to langrenn.com.
Although it is in sprint Gjerde Alnes has had her breakthrough, she tried long-distance races before. Two seasons ago she went on several races. For example, she was 16th at the Reistadsløpet, 19th at Marcialonga and Kaiser Maximilian Lauf.
“I got a taste for long-distance skiing already then and I am very much looking forward to doing the job required to get me to the top,” she tells langrenn.com.
Team Ragde Eiendom has there first training camp last week in May and then Gjerde Alnes joins the team.
Jørgen Aukland tells langrenn.com that he is working on recruiting more exciting athletes and he hopes to present more news soon.
