Yesterday, the cross-country ski season started in Sweden with the sprint competition. Today in Gällivare, the 15 km classic race took place for male skiers, and Team Ramudden’s double-poling master Max Novak, who won last year’s season premiere, started fast and was close to the top at the intermediate control points. Unfortunately, he fell down and lost about 50 seconds, which dropped down in the result list. He finally finished 23rd, 1:39 minutes behind the winner Leo Johansson. Most likely, he could have been in the top six.
Dario Cologna was second and Eric Rosjö third who is now a member in Team Eksjöhus. Novak's teammate Johannes Eklöf kept good pace and finished 16th. Then, Team Ramudden’s Herman Paus was 26th while Team Eksjöhus’ Axel Jutterström finished right behind him, 27th.
