The Challenger Klarälvsloppet in Sweden was planned for September 20 but is now canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 90 km roller ski race cannot be arranged with current directives from the Swedish authorities of crowds of a maximum of 50 people.
Klarälvsloppet explains the situation as follows on its website:
“Carrying out an event with the volume of participants that Klarälvsloppet collects is, of course, not favorable based on the risk of infection spreading that is created and the directive with crowds of a maximum of 50 people regulates the conditions for this.
Carrying out only an elite race also entails great difficulties with partially closed national borders. At the same time, the event’s finances are strongly affected without income from registration fees.
Therefore, there are currently no opportunities to arrange Klarälvsloppet 2020. We aim to come back with a fantastic event in 2021 where the world hopefully got through the corona pandemic.”
