Visma Ski Classics Fantasy continues, and Vasaloppet will be a perfect race for you to get your dream team in place. We are now in the latter part of the season and looking back gives us a very good idea who is who in the game. The current Fantasy leaders, the most valuable assets, are Andreas Nygaard, Petter Eliassen and Morten Eide Pedersen respectively in the men’s category. The best three women are Britta Johansson Norgren, Katerina Smutná and Lina Korsgren.
Vasaloppet always comes with surprises, so it may be beneficial to look at the previous results and perhaps bet on some of those “dark horses”. We all remember Bob Impola’s great performance last year, 2nd, and Jörgen Brink came out of nowhere and finished 4th (he is a three-time Vasaloppet winner 2010-12), and two years ago John Kristian Dahl won the race even if the overall season was very tough for him. Take this fact into account when putting your Vasaloppet Fantasy team together. And of course, check out the start list to see what names are there for your team.
A brief summary of the rules is as follows; you have $40.000 fantasy dollars to use for purchasing your favorite skiers for your pro team, the maximum number of your team members is 10, and you can trade and replace them but only three per weekend. You should select your skiers with caution as all competitions count and you can get points from your sprint and climb specialists as well. And the youth points are also added for those skiers who are 26 or under, but you only get 50% of their those points.
It goes without saying that the value of each skier goes up and down depending on his or her performance level, which may affect your account as well – you may have more or less than your start-up money. The team selection closes at midnight CET the day before the race.
