Novosibirsk Classic Marathon, the first Visma Ski Classics Challengers in Russia, took place today in Novosibirsk, in the heart of Siberia. The 60km long-distance race in classic technique was a scene for a high-level competition, good weather and great tracks.
The 60km course that consisted of two laps of 30km in the middle of the Siberian forest was completed in a little less than 3 hours for the men’s and a little over 3 hours and a half for the women’s, with the big win of today’s Challengers event going to the Russians Alexander Bessmertnykh and Anastasiia Odinokova.
The action in the men’s race was intense with Winter Olympics and World Championships medalist Alexander Bessmertnykh dominating the race and winning with a total time of 2:56:07.0, followed by Vladimir Karkin in second place with a time of 3:00:34.0. Third place went to Mikhail Sosnin, finishing the race with a total time of 3:01:00.0.
In the women’s race the competition was beautiful between the skiers. Anastasiia Odinokova finished the race in first place with a total time of 3:31:44.0 and gave no chance to the opponents. Second place went to Elena Kucheva with a time of 3:40:27.0 and Elena Serdtseva completed the podium in third place with a total time of 3:49:38.0.
