Lager 157 Ski Team loses another skier for the next season of Visma Ski Classics. It is Andreas Holmberg who has decided to end his career.
"The last three years in Lager 157 Ski Team have been the most fun in my career", says 28-year-old Andreas Holmberg.
Andreas Holmberg was a member of the Swedish national team in ski orienteering when he decided to focus on long distance skiiing. First he did a couple of seasons in his club IFK Mora and then Holmberg was recruited to Team Serneke before he took the step to Lager 157 Ski Team ahead of Season IX.
"I no longer have the motivation to invest in the training needed. Now I will focus on finding a job as a construction engineer," says Holmberg.
In Team Serneke's colors, he had his greatest success in Visma Ski Classics with second place at Kaiser Maximilan Lauf 2018.
The following season, Holmberg became part of Lager 157 Ski Team and showed how strong an uphill skier he is, fighting for the Climb bib several times.
In addition to the second place at Kaiser Maximilan Lauf, he finished top ten four times in the Pro Tour, where the sixth place on Marcialonga 2020 stands out.
"It was probably the best race in my career," says Holmberg.
Holmberg has really appreciated being part of Lager 157 Ski Team the last three seasons.
"It has been the best years as an athlete. Seeing Emil (Persson) winning the yellow bib up close this winter was fantastic."
