Sunday, January 30, it’s time for Marcialonga. The 70-kilometer Visma Ski Classics Pro Tour race is the seventh event of Season XII and takes place in Trentino, Italy, featuring the famous final climb, the Cascata Hill.
Marcialonga starts in Moena, Val di Fassa, and finishes on the main street of Cavalese, Val di Fiemme, passing through 13 villages. The course passes on the Predazzo ski jump, goes through the town center before reaching the Nordic ski arena in Tesero.
The final climb, Cascata Hill, is probably one of the most iconic landmarks in the history of long-distance skiing and has a unique checkpoint. The points are calculated according to the fastest time up the hill instead of the first skier reaching the top as in regular climb checkpoints.
The finish line is a thrilling sight to see since the skiers approach the town center surrounded by a large crowd of spectators.
Expect many battles on the Cascata Hill as the Pro Tour skiers fight for glory in the Visma Ski Classics Marcialonga and the first Grand Classics Season XII.
